People who consume high amounts of vitamin D have a much lower risk of colon cancer.

According to a recent study, vitamin D can help extend the lives of patients with colorectal cancer. Previous research has shown that people who consume high amounts of vitamin D have a much lower risk of colon cancer. For example, the risk of colon cancer is up to 50 percent lower in countries where there is more sunlight and fish is consumed in food, which is a major source of vitamin D.
These results were obtained from a study conducted on 304 men and women at the Boston Cancer Institute USA. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the balance of vitamin D in the body of cancer patients and the patient’s recovery. The researchers wrote in the Journal Of Clinical Oncology that “during the six and a half years of research, patients whose vitamin D levels were up to 25 percent were 50 percent less likely to die, compared to patients whose vitamin D levels were less than 25 percent.”
